Week 1- MTC (Letter to Barnett's)

Dear Maren & Blake,
Thank you for the e-mail. I will try to reply but I only get a half an hour, once a week, for e-mail. But if you go to Dearelder.com, you can send me e-mail that come to me as a letter. I didn't have a chance to read the message, but I saw it was there. I am learning a lot like, "word is truth, is light, is spirit, is matter." Read D&C 84:45, 131:7-8, 88:67, 93:39, 1 Cor. 3:16-17.
So how are you guys doing? So, I went to 'teach' this person. It was being filmed so our teacher knows what to work on with us. When we finished the two elders came up to me and said I did a really good job.
Elder Forsberg
P.S. Sorry for the handwriting, it is loud where I am.

Week 1- MTC (E-mail)

March 31, 2010

Dear Family,

I miss Oregon's weather. I have been so hot here and it has snowed twice. I sent you a real letter in the mail, did you get it? I can only be on the computer for 30 minutes a week. So how are you?

I am going to be one heck of a missionary, and for the record, I am leaving Blair but will return Elder Forsberg. And my favorite scripture goes something like, When ye are in the service of your fellow man ye are in the service of the Lord," or something like that. I think it is in 2 Nephi.

I really don't have your worries about my speech. We did this thing where my companion and I teach an "investigator." When we finished, 2 elders came up to me and said they thought I did really well. I am not allowed to have an ipod in the MTC.

Well, I would like you to shrink my Patriarchal Blessing and send it to me. I learned this would be cool. I will send it to you in a letter since I only have a half an hour on the computer each Wednesday.
The good news is I am sending you pictures. My memory car is not full yet, but I printed some off. It was 27 cents for 4 pictures. My companion is from you Utah, so half of his graduating class is here and he has stopped to talk to everyone, which makes it hard to get anywhere fast. But, that is a little thing.

I wear 10.5 (ring size). I am use to 2 meals a day and I am getting 3. The food is okay, but I miss mom's cooking. It is ok. I am learning alot. I have almost no worries. I will e-mail you more next week.

Week 1- MTC (Letter)

March 25, 2010
Dear Mom and Dad,
I am fine. My companions name is Elder Cahoon. He is nice. I will be able to e-mail you on Wednesday. I am in a district of 7 elders. 4 of them are going to Florida, 2 are going to Louisiana, and 1 is going to South Africa (English speaking).
The classes are not that hard. They are just long. I sit in class for 10 hours each day. On Friday there is a 8:45 to 10:00 class, 11:10 to 1:00 class, 1:45 to 6:00 class, 6:45 to 9:00 class. A lot of class.
They told us we are not allowed to take pictures, except on Wednesday and Sunday. And, yes Dad, I know I am not here to take pictures. It is weird not having a cell phone. And Mom, in case you’re wondering how you hook up the iPod. Click on the yellow icon, then go to music tab look for shine. Click on it so it is not checked. Then click on the playlist you made. Then press sync. It is the right hand button in the corner.
I will only be in the MTC for 3 weeks.
Sincerely,
Elder Forsberg
P.S. I think I might have left my CTR ring in the hotel room. Can you call and see if they have it?
And, yes Dad, I know how much it costs.
And, no Mom, you may not use this to start a lesson.
But, if they do have it, have Mallory mail it to me.
